Fine Art

October 2013

The brief was to base my art around me by using my surroundings and objects that are personal to me. To start off I brought in some of my personal objects and I had to draw out and use different materials of what they were.

I then moved on from this and used all sorts of tape to create one of my personal objects. Also I weighed the whole object to create another way of recording my objects.

Life Drawing

October 2013

Visual Recordings of Life Drawing -  To start off my life drawing lessons I didn't know what to expect as there would be a naked person standing in front of me however it wasn't to bad. I began my life drawing session with a person head measurement to get get the proportion of the body right. By using the size of the head on the model I was able to count down her body and mark of my sheet how tall she should be and what part should go where. Throughout some of my drawings also I used masking tape to produce and show the use of negative space around the model.

Here the model got to start using props and I would have to carry out the proportion still in the same head measurements whether she was standing or sitting. I also tried to experiment with different materials like here I have used contate to see how that differs from when I normally use pencil.

For the final one I had to draw three poses in one, this was to capture movement within a time limit as the model couldn't hold some of the position for too long.

Photography

October 2013

The brief was to base my art around me by using my surroundings and objects that are personal to me. So by this I created a range of experiments my using spray developer, paintbrush developer, sandwich printing and photo grams.

My Surroundings - The Fish & Chip shop by the college (Spray Developer)

My Surroundings - A pattern of something which I'm not to sure what it is now however I think this was a drain when I went off on my first outing with a film camera (Paintbrush Developer)

My Surroundings and Personal Items - Sandwich Printing

My Personal Items - Photogram of my watch which then I used the Spray Developer.

My start into second year - Flight Project

September 2013

For the first three weeks into my Extended Diploma the brief I was given was to do with flight. So as a group we all traveled to Cosford RAF Air Field to get a few ideas for what we could make during the three weeks. For my Specialist subjects I decided to chose Photography and Fine Art and for these lessons I developed a range of ideas for the Flight project using all sorts of mediums.

For my Photography lesson I printed out photographs that I had taken at the Cosford RAF Air Field and placed them onto acetate so I could do a contact print in the darkroom, when I got used to doing the basic contact print I then got to experiment with using positive and negative effects and also embossing the images to create the 3D effect my sandwich printing and also I used Cyan and Sepia toning to create tone and highlights within the photograph.

Also I learnt how to make a Pinhole Camera which I enjoyed as it was a challenge and from this I used this to sandwich print with my other first photographs.

For my Fine Art lesson I decided to move away from the whole areoplane idea which many students decided to do because of the Cosford RAF Air Field trip, so sticking to the flight theme I decided to take the inspiration from when I went indoor skydiving and I created an interactive sculpture, however in the end at the exhibition my sculpture did not exhibit as it was a little to technical for the three week time period. If I had more time I would of been able to actually buy a fan to power my sculpture instead of using a hairdryer which I used during my experimentation.
